Fosfacar granular carbon is manufactured from bones. The production process includes a controlled calcination, as well as a leaching process that guarantees the purity this product requires. Fosfacar is mainly composed by tricalcium phosphate and secondly by carbon. The phosphate, also known as Hydroxylapatite, is an anion exchanger. Carbon has the same property of adsorbing organic material just like the activated charcoal or coal.

Fosfacar is mainly used in the purification process of sugar syrup, aquarium filters, and fluoride removal from water. In this last application, Fosfacar is regenerated in the same way than an anion resin through a treatment with a soda solution.
